Ryan Shinji

Ryan is a multi-disciplinary performing artist. Growing up in Maryland he developed a background in gymnastics, diving, and martial arts that helped kick-start a career in circus as a generalist - one of many skills. In his early circus career he taught at Trapeze School New York while gigging in nightclubs before taking off on tour. He performed around the world for three years with Cirque Éloize's iD with a chair balancing act, as well as performing in group acts of trampoline wall and skipping rope. In 2013 he was invited to create the acro net act for Cirque du Soleil's Kurios and toured with the show for nearly eight years, taking turns as the backup hand balancer and comic characters as well. 

Now, he is based in Brooklyn and collaborating with many different companies and stages including Cirque du Soleil Events+Experiences, Visceral Abstractions, Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, The Muse, 3AM Theatre, The Slipper Room, House of Yes, The Box, The Stranger, Red Pavilion and many more!
