Dunham Jazz Masterclass

Dunham Contemporary Jazz with Candice Michelle Franklin will explore Katherine Dunham's technique and aesthetic, influence, and contribution to the progression of Jazz dance. This high-energy class will explore Dunham's movement vocabulary and traditional modern Jazz motifs used in Jazz dance to ultimately create a concert Jazz movement combination. The lesson will include a review of classic Dunham positions, her movement, and isolations, followed by lively, Dunham-inspired Jazz progressions and a final combo. This class features live accompaniment by the master percussionist, Philip Hamilton!
