Engagement with the Motherland

This event will speak to political, social, and community engagement with the African continent. Particularly, it will be a discussion with Amini Kajunju, Former Head of the Africa America Institute, and Korto Williams, Global Head of Women’s Rights in ActionAid International, about how they have engaged with African communities in the course of their career to maximize impact. Additionally, we will discuss how they have dealt with the challenges and opportunities presented by straddling life on and off the African continent. 

This year, Africa Week will focus on reconnecting with home – something that we’ve all missed and would undoubtedly want to experience again. As we welcome this new shade of normalcy, it is also a time for reflection and a time to celebrate our unique identities and how we contribute to the vibrant African landscape. Africa Week this year aims to bridge connections by exploring me, myself, and different facets of African innovation. By looking inward, we are not restricting ourselves to individualism. We seek community, connections, creativity, and cultures that are truly beautiful. We welcome everyone to celebrate the Motherland with YASA!
