EveryBody Dances with Lorelei Chang
EveryBody Dances @ Yale Schwarzman Center brings local and visiting dance artists to our Dance Studio to teach Sunday masterclasses in jazz, hip hop, salsa, modern, contemporary, precision dance and more! All community members are welcome. This edition of EveryBody Dances is a collaboration between Yale Schwarzman Center and Yale-China and part of the Lunarfest 2024 celebration.
Lorelei Chang is a renowned modern dancer/choreographer, Qigong & Taijiquan teacher, and Chinese calligrapher. She has studied diligently in these disciplines for more than 40 years. She and her twin sister, Mai Nakanishi are world-class artists who pioneered Chinese calligraphy and Qigong with modern dance. Both Lorelei and Mai were the first modern pioneer dancers in China when modern dance was introduced in China in 1987.
Lorelei won a Gold Medal for the 24 form Taiji Quan, and a Silver Medal for 42 form Taiji Quan during the International Wushu Competition. She is a professional member of the National Qigong Association (NQA). Lorelei studied the Five Element Shiatsu with Nini Melvin and began her own Shiatsu practice at her home in 2019. She is a certified instructor of Radiant Lotus Women's Qigong founded by Daisy Lee. Lorelei teaches dance, Qigong, and Taijiquan in China, Japan and the US. Her passion in all Chinese art forms continues to inspire her students and audiences alike.
