Highlighting Transfeminity in Modeling, Tiktok, and Beyond
On this panel we are hoping to uncover the ways in which Transfeminine folks have managed to navigate the entertainment landscape, all the while creating radical forms of love and education for those within and outside of the Transgender community.
Jessica Zyrie is a visible black trans social activist, model and clinical case manager at the 3rd largest LGBTQ+ nonprofit in the nation. Zyrie has used her platform to advocate for equality across the intersectionality of race and gender identity. Zyrie became public with her transition in October 2016, and has used her publicity to increase visibility and education for the community. She has worked with local, state, and national organizations including, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Equality Texas, Transgender Education Network of Texas, Gilead, and the Houston Health Department. She has been featured internationally on Google Pride’s 2017 Campaign #IShowUp and Project Runway Season 18 for NYFW. She has been featured in online & in print fashion editorials for major magazines including Essence, Elle, and Marie Claire magazines.
Rosalynne Montoya (Rose) is a Latinx, bisexual, non-binary transgender woman. Rose uses she/her and they/them pronouns. She works as a model, makeup artist, and content creator. Her goal is to spread love and education about her community as she shares her story. Rose also serves on the board of the non-profit Adiya Rising, and has been a vocal critic of TikTok’s censorship of LGBTQ/BIPOC accounts.
