Innovations in Design Across the Diaspora: A Conversation with Robert Garland, Pamela Allen-Cummings, Toni-Leslie James, and Busayo Olupona
Yale Schwarzman Center in partnership with the Yale School of Art presents Innovations in Design Across the Diaspora, a conversation with Dance Theatre of Harlem Artistic Director Robert Garland, Dance Theatre of Harlem costume designer Pamela Allen-Cummings, co-chair of design at the David Geffen School of Drama Toni-Leslie James, and BUSAYO brand founder and designer Busayo Olupona. This event will take place on February 23, 2024, from 5pm to 6:30pm, in the Afro-American Cultural Center and will be moderated by designer and visual artist Nontsikelelo Mutiti, Assistant Professor & Director of Graduate Studies in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art.
This event is a part of the Spotlight on DEI in Art Series. This series was initiated by Yale School of Art and highlights non-European cultures and their influence on the Arts in painting, graphic design, sculpture, and photography.
As a follow-up to this event, on February 24, Busayo will host a one-day activation of More Amour Boutique at The Shops at Yale which will feature garments from Busayo herself that will be available for purchase.
