Marquand Chapel Service Featuring Garrett Bond's 'Requiem for a Troubled World'

Join us for a celebration service in Marquand Chapel to commemorate 50 years of vibrant music-making and theology at the Institute of Sacred Music (ISM), featuring Garrett Bond’s Requiem for a Troubled World. Presented in partnership with Yale Schwarzman Center, the music will be conducted by Sarah Shapiro MM'24 and feature the University Church at Yale’s Battell Chapel Choir. The performance of this requiem is dedicated to Sarah Grube '22, a cherished member of the Yale music community who tragically passed away on April 12.

This event will be held during the ISM’s 50th Anniversary Celebration weekend. All are invited.

Artist Biography

Award-winning vocalist, pianist, conductor, and composer Garrett M. Bond holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory & Composition from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, as well as Master of Music degrees in Choral Conducting and Collaborative Piano from Portland State University. Bond is the associate artistic director of the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, and he is active within the Portland, Oregon community as a freelance musician, singing with Cappella Romana, Portland State University, the Oregon Symphony, and Pink Martini, among others. He serves as president of the board of directors for the Bells of the Cascades, is a founding member of Chanticleer’s newly formed Vocal Consort, and is an active educator and clinician within Portland Public Schools and surrounding districts.
