Risking it All: A Conversation with Theater Artist Toto Kisaku
Yale Schwarzman Center (YSC), along with Yale’s Council on Middle East Studies, is proud to present this conversation exploring the powerful effects of truth-telling as an art form. Award-winning playwright, actor, director, and producer Toto Kisaku will engage in a conversation about Requiem for an Electric Chair, an autobiographical play about his escape from Congolese death row in 2015. Kisaku, who was granted asylum in Connecticut in 2018, focuses on the powerful impact storytelling can have on social and political atrocities—a timely topic given current events in Ukraine. This conversation will be held in-person at Yale Schwarzman Center and serves as a precursor to a staging of Requiem for an Electric Chair to be announced.
This conversation is open to asymptomatic vaccinated and boosted Yale students, faculty, and staff only. Please bring your COVID 19 vaccination card, clearly legible photo of your vaccination card on your phone, or your MyChart vaccination confirmation and your Yale ID. Front of House staff will be checking tickets, IDs, and proof of vaccination.
