Many a cautionary tale has been told about friends coming together to create new work only to end in bitter dispute. There are, however, examples of successful collaborations that have lasted a lifetime, such as John Williams and Steven Spielberg, Gilbert & George, John Cage and Merce Cunningham. Join composer Christopher Cerrone and Ian Rosenbaum of Sandbox Percussion for a reflective session on their collaborative journey. Their partnership commenced on the steps of Yale’s GYPSCY (now Griffon’s Pub) and has since encompassed a diverse range of artistic collaborations and business decisions. From commissioning works to creating albums, they’ve worked with writers, directors, dancers, choreographers, and video artists. This Schwarzman Session aims to provide valuable insights into strategies for maintaining and nurturing relationships throughout the creative process.
