Session: Building Bridges in Creative AAPI Communities
Yale Schwarzman Center Sessions invite you into conversation with thought leaders in creative fields, bringing students from across Yale into dialogue to inspire fresh ideas over a meal. There is a 12-person capacity for this Session, and meal vouchers will be provided.
While exploring the diversity of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) identities, celebrated creators will discuss issues surrounding cultural representation, personal narratives, and allyship. Speakers include:
- Dana Tai Soon Burgess – choreographer, Smithsonian’s first choreographer-in-residence at the National Portrait Gallery, and long-serving Cultural Ambassador to the US State Department. His company is currently producing the Social Justice Video Series.
- Susan Choi – novelist and lecturer in English at Yale. She is the recipient of the Asian-American Literary Award and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.
