Commons, Yale University’s largest dining hall and part of the newly renovated Yale Schwarzman Center, opened for lunch on the first day of undergraduate classes, September 1, 2021. Yale President Peter Salovey helped celebrate the occasion by serving lunch to students, faculty, and staff and greeting some of the guests at their tables. Handsome Dan also made an appearance, stopping briefly for a few bites of rotisserie chicken prepared fresh at Rostir, one of four themed dining stations in the new Commons servery.
