Opera disrupter Yuval Sharon brings his modern vision to the spotlight with The Comet / Poppea. The new piece — an exploration of double consciousness in disparate worlds, set on a rotating stage — is Sharon’s latest fantastical take on the genre. 

This piece is a great example of the fact that we’re not trying to throw away old opera or cancel it... We’re trying to embroider it in meaningful ways.

Collaboration is crucial to Sharon and his process, and The Comet / Poppea came about as a result of many people’s help and creative vision.  Anthony Roth Costanzo co-produced along with Cath Brittan, the Industry, American Modern Opera Company, Curtis Institute of Music and Yale Schwarzman Center.
