A Salute to Tomorrow
A Salute to
Tomorrow
By Dhriti Gupta

Dhriti sought to create an art piece that she recounts moments of overcoming self-doubt, taking on challenging roles, and discovering her capacity to lead by example through Junior ROTC and now ROTC. She wanted to highlight how the program’s structure and discipline shaped her character and prepared her plans for her future endeavors. By presenting her journey as a testament to what the program could offer beyond the uniform, she aims to present a piece that shared a sense of purpose and inspiration for JROTC cadets to embrace the final years of their cadet experience with renewed enthusiasm and ambition.
Through following the design process there were many changes brought to these initial goals and many new ideas to grapple with. At length, this project’s focus shifted to an intrapersonal reflection tool to help encourage LET 3s and 4s to find their inner drive and vision. To achieve this goal, Dhriti created a shadow box art piece paired with a vision sheet exercise for cadets to complete. She aims to distribute this artwork by having it placed in the district Junior ROTC office and posted on newsletters throughout schools in the Houston ISD. She also plans to present the vision sheet in-person to obtain feedback and continue the interactive process to evaluate and improve.
